Care and Embrace

If you look closely at a painting, you may notice some weird images, or mistakes the artist makes. Wether it’s a speckle of paint that’s not supposed to be there, or a hand that is portrayed in an odd position, these little flaws are what set the painting apart from other ones. It is the same thing with yourself. You have flaws, and so do I. But, these flaws are what make us unique in our own way.

I have a bad habit of staring at myself in the mirror for fairly long periods of time, trying to find all the blemishes that recently popped out, the blackheads scattered around my nose, the dark circles that got darker, or the bumpy, textured bits of skin. Walking away from the mirror, I feel insecure; that insecure feeling sticks with me for the whole day.

As time went by, I learned that I will never wake up with perfectly flawless, glowy, hydrated skin (Although some people do). Instead of letting my flaws effect my day, I started to do two things. The first thing I started doing was to care. I knew that if I didn’t do anything about it, it will just get worse. I learned how to build a solid skincare routine to feed my skin with good ingredients. Not only did I care from the outside, but I also cared from the inside. I started prioritizing sleep, drinking plenty of water, exercising frequently, and eating healthily (Your lifestyle really shows on the outside)! The second thing that I started to do was to embrace. I learned to be grateful,  proud, and to accept what I have on my skin. Instead of covering my flaws up, I chose to show them. After all, that’s what makes me me!

I encourage you to do the same! Learn how to take a step back from the mirror and look at the bigger picture; then tell yourself, “I’m perfect just the way I am, and I won’t let my flaws discourage me in any way.”

Care and Embrace.

Although it’s not perfect, it’s perfectly you.
