Acts of Self-Care
Simple acts of self-care can bring a spark of joy and a sense of warmth to our days and to ourselves. Listed below are some of these simple acts you can incorporate into a moment.
Brew a cup of tea — sip it slowly.
Have hot water first thing in the morning.
Read a fiction book to let loose and get away from reality.
Allocate a special time for skincare. A mask sounds great!
Ease into steaming bubble bath with relaxing music.
Open the curtains — let the sun in.
Stretch. Do some yoga.
Don’t think about obligations — don’t feel guilty for taking things slow.
Wear your favorite scent.
Comb your hair.
Do your hair.
Make a special meal and a special drink. Enjoy them whilst watching a movie.
Take time to listen to yourself — reflect on the past week; write your journeys down on paper.
Dance around the room to your favorite song — no one’s watching.
Take time off the noise of social media.
FaceTime a loved one.
Meditate. Sit or lie in silence — in your own presence.
Take 10 deep breaths.
Take a walk — solo.
Recall a childhood story.
Flip through old photographs.
Wake up at noon.
Listen to a beloved playlist all the whilst watching the sky change — blue to orange to soft pink hues; day to night.
Don’t look at the clock — for a moment, let go from the pressure of time.
Drink a glass of water.
Write in your journal.
Take yourself out to dinner alone.
