The Queen of Natural Makeup: RMS Beauty
5-6 minute read
Oh, how I love using cream blushes, and highlighters, and everything! I love them, from their simple application of using my fingers, to the natural, natural look of it on my skin. I also adore the multi-purpose ways you can use them for. But, sometimes, creams can be oily or sticky — just not pleasant. Now, this is where RMS Beauty steps in: a vegan, organic, cruelty-free, all-natural makeup brand, who changed the game for cream products; the queen of clean makeup; along with their iconic, little, heaven-filled, frosted glass pots; and, founded by makeup artist, Rosemary Swift. You may have heard of them, you may have not. But, whether you’re a clean beauty fan or not, everyone needs a little bit of RMS in their lives.
Lip2Cheeks
My absolute favorites, and I’m not exaggerating. These coconut oil-based, multi-purpose pots for your lips and cheeks deliver a non-greasy, naturally-flushed finish. They come in little, durable, frosted-glass tubs, which you can throw in your bag if you’re running late. The best part is, you can use them on your lips, cheeks, and eyes (if the shade is right). Perfect for the girl on the go! The formula is creamy, but not oily or powdery, and is quite pigmented. You can apply it with your finger or a synthetic brush. I noticed that I had to swirl my finger around the tub to warm the product up for the smoothest application. A little goes a long way. I own 2 shades of this amazing product: Smile and Paradise. Smile is the shade in which I would naturally flush. I only need to dab a tiny bit on the apples of my cheeks to create an “I just got back from the gym” look. Beautiful and fresh on lips, too! It is a hot, corally orange — quite punchy and very vibrant! Paradise is more of a Summery, peachy-coral. It gives me tropical sunsets, sunkissed, all day at the beach kind of vibe. Something that really brings me back to Bali (or some island in the tropics)! I really, really love this shade, especially because peach suits my skin-tone. Even if it’s not the most natural-looking color in the pot, it looks so natural when applied on the apples of my cheeks, the bridge of my nose, a touch on my lips, and sometimes, the eyes for a rosy, romantic look. This would probably be my deserted island makeup product (not that I’ll bring makeup to a deserted island, but you get what I’m saying), because it brings such liveliness to my face, and it is so, so multi-purpose.
Luminizers
RMS makes great highlights! They have quite a wide range, from sheer and dewy, to a more shiny, sparkly finish; also coming in many shades! Maybe you have heard of their cult-favorite Living Luminizer. It is the product that belongs in every model and makeup artist’s pouch! It’s a sheer, pearly-white color that catches the light in the most beautiful way! But, a little more on that later… For now, let’s talk about the Luminizer X Quad: a compact palette of 4 of RMS’s most beloved cream highlighters. The shades are Luminizer X, Luminizer Nude, Champagne Fizz, and Champagne Rosé. Incredibly easy and creamy to pat along your cheekbones, temples, brow-bone, cupid's bow, nose, eyes, anywhere where the light will naturally hit! Let’s start with Luminizer X: a more extreme version of the classic Living Luminizer. A frosty, pearly, white that shines brightly under light, but not overly sparkly; just the right amount of shimmer. Luminizer Nude, my favorite of the bunch, is a warm topaz with just a hint of gold. It gives your complexion a dewy, sunkissed glow. Moving on to something a little more outgoing: Champagne Fizz. Basically, glitter trapped in cream form, it makes you glisten like moonlight reflected on a river. I don’t think it’s something you would wear every day, but it’s fun once in a while. What I like most about it is that it isn’t your typical, intense, glittery highlight. It still looks elegant when you’re wearing it, not forced; subtle and sweet. You don’t need to use that much. Just a little bit of it is enough. A trick is to swirl your finger around the product, then rub your finger on the back of your hand, after that, apply what’s left on the high points of your face for the most even, subtle application! Pretty on eyes, too. Last, but not least, Champagne Rosé: the ideal rosy, dewy highlighter you’ll instantly want in your purse. Not glittery at all, it delivers a beautiful, blushed-pink champagne, lit-from-within glow to your complexion. Probably the most natural-looking of the quad! Feel free to mix and match these shades to create your own ideal shine, or simply, wear them as it is!
The Signature Set: mod collection
A mixed platter of RMS favorites, it’s the perfect palette to start with if you’re new the brand, or already love them but need something light and compact to travel with. The set probably has all your makeup needs: highlighters, lip2cheeks, and a balm, so let’s break down this amazingly useful palette step-by-step:
Master Mixer is a much-hyped product that gives your skin a warm, luminous rose-gold gleam. Lovely patted on the lids or focused on the inner corners of the eyes. Compared to the other creams, this one transforms into a (somewhat) powder when blended out on the skin. It gives you a shimmery, yet subtle, finish! On the right of the Master Mixer is the iconic Living Luminizer that gives you the sheerest, luminous, lit-from-within glow. It’s RMS’s most famous, award-winning product. It definitely revolutionized, or probably even started, the trend of highlighting in that dewy, natural way. So, so gorgeous patted on the high points of the face! We are then continued with two lip2cheeks: Smile, which I spoke about earlier; a coral-pink that adds a fresh, youthful flush to your complexion. And there’s Spell: a sophisticated, almost-brown, dusty-rose, that gives you a sense of chicness. Think, white t-shirts, jeans, sunglasses, undone hair, basically the cool-girl. She probably wears a similar shade on her lips and cheeks. (Tip: mix Spell with any lip2cheek that you find too vibrant or bright. It mellows, and calms the color down a little.)
That’s it for my review on RMS Beauty. I hope that the information was informative enough on the brand and their awesome products! See you on the next post!
