Iced Matcha Latte
Matcha latte: a steaming hot mug of it is a calming, comforting drink, while an iced version gives a refreshing, uplifting feel — my matcha-loving self decided to find out how to make a simple, delicious matcha latte in her own kitchen. After many green stains on clothes, lumpy drinks, and tries that were unpleasantly sweet or bitter tasting, here is my take on the beloved matcha latte.
This recipe is so, so simple. You just need:
1 tsp of matcha powder (try to get one more concentrated)
2 tbsp of warm water
2 tsp of agave (or any sweetener of your choice. If you’re using agave, the lighter the better.)
1 cup of any milk of your choice
The steps:
Get a medium-sized bowl and whisk your matcha powder with the warm water. I would recommend sifting the matcha in, as it would reduce the chance of lumps, but, really the key is a lot whisking.
Add your sweetener in the matcha mixture (in this case, agave) and keep whisking until bubbles form.
Now, get a tall cup and drop a few ice-cubes in.
Oh, yes, and if you want your matcha to be warm, heat up your milk and skip the ice cubes.
Pour the matcha mixture into the cup, then your milk of choice.
Mix it together with a straw or spoon, and there you have it! A quick, simple, yummy matcha latte.
A side note: I measured the sugar so that even if the ice melted, it wouldn’t taste annoyingly bland ;)
And, do tailor this recipe to your own taste. I hope that you enjoy your matcha latte and the last few days of 2019.
